If you are fishing for yellows, 30 lb leader will be perfect. I use it with both 65 and 50 lb braid and I can not break it under super load. Much easier to work with as well. Just switched over to the RP(not jr) knot by John Collins and it works great and is very easy to tie. You can youtube it for demo. Good luck.

Thanks. Should have clarified that this is my 50# setup. Already set on 25, 30 and 40 pound setups. This is for the bruisers |

People use the spangler up to 100 poinds no problem. Small knot with a double wrap around the eye of the hook.

My go to knots are the FG knot or tony pena knot for braid to flouro connection. Very thin knots, fg is the thinnest out there, goes thru guides no prob. It is also rated as one of the strongest as well. For tying hooks the san diego jam, is my go to. Tied san diego jam with no prob at 50lbs.
Good Luck!! |

Yeah, I use San Diego or Palomar at the end but was looking for opinions on the fluoro to braid connection for heavier line. Thanks all

65# braid to 50 fluoro
I have used a uni to uni knot for all my braid to mono/flouro connections for years and never once lost a fish due to the connection
I did have one fail but it was a ten year old knot and was wrapped in a passing boats prop so it would have failed no matter what so I don't consider that one time an actual failure Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Here is the FG knot by hand.

John Collins knot. Easy and quick to tie and seems to hold up very well. It's small and goes through the guides easier than some of the other knots that are more bulky.

I've been using the Alberto knot ( aka RP knot, aka modified Albright knot, aka John Collins knot) for years. I rub chapstick on the braid before tying to make it cinch a lot easier.
https://youtu.be/RiSik3Jqs7M I recently started using the FG knot for my heavier 80-100 lb leaders for popper fishing. Works great on lighter line too. The FG knot has been tested to be a stronger knot. Just make sure your wraps are tight and it won't fail. https://youtu.be/pjzUb5QRKuk
