fresh one from San O

I pick this guy up at San O this morning. I had to sort through 5 shorts in order to get this one. 34 inches.

It was a little cool this morning and I took one over my bow at the launch so I was a little chilly until the sun was up for a while. The conditions were reported as 1-3 ft but that had to be an average. There were periods of flat calm and then some 5 ft sneakers would wake you up.

5 shorts to one legal isn't bad, we'll take that so long as we get that one legal. Congrats, thanks for the report.

You have to go into Surf Beach (Old Mans) and drive all the way to the end closest to the power plant. That's the only place the let you launch yaks and sups. You defiantly need to pick your days carefully. About 150 yds toward the power plant from the last parking spot there is sort of a natural channel that runs perpendicular to the beach that is free of surf if the swell is less than 4 ft. As with most surf launch spots, the landing is where things get hairy.

Yeah, the reports on surfline.com seem to be conservative unless they say <1ft. Last week I surf-fished Carlsbad with a 1ft - 2ft prediction and there were easily 5ft waves in the sets.
