Need help with gear

Im new to real ocean fishing and could use some help picking the right gear. Now take into account I may be moving out of state so im not looking for top dollar stuff this year. What I have is as follows.

Kencor 707 5'10" 10-40 ocean rod
Saber 5'7" 30-80 ocean rod the handle alone is 3' long ( was told good for boat but my be to stiff for yak fishing
Quantum blue runner 7' rod 6-15 lb
Penn Jig master 501 reel

If I end up staying Ill buy more upper end stuff. Are the penn reliance any good. I see alot of penn reels on line IE reliance, senators ect. in my price range.....My areas to fish will be Newport bay/ CDM and Dana point local areas....with a LJ trip here and there time permitting......any help would be great.... size and length of rods reels and types of lines to spool them with needed. Better to ask then buy alot of useless tackle thanks and look forward to replys

X2, you definitely need a bass setup. And the other will cover anything else you might come across.
