wsb friday 4/16
short story: i got my first legal !!!!!!! long version: i made it down to la jolla friday from redlands and was really wanting to get a fish on the iron(im still learning) so when i get to where the birds are all working theres just TONS of bait!! http://s160.photobucket.com/albums/t...t=P4150167.flv birds working and bait erupting all around me! http://s160.photobucket.com/albums/t...t=P4150166.flv after throwing some irons for a while i decided since theres so much bait im gonna just make some and try that.. i made about 5 macs, set up the drift and started having a snack, after a little while i hear zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz ( not a big ZZZ because avet clickers are quiet haha) put my soda down, push it in gear, and OFF WE GO! kayak feels like im goin down the side of a mountain! start getting on top of the fish and it stops, kelped wrestle that damn thing for about a solid 10-15, taking breaks and getting the rod butt out of my gut for a while, let out a bit of line wishing i had full spectra on! finally comes loose and books to my left right into another stringer!!! sit on that one trying to get it free for another 5 or 6 minutes atleast, but on this kelp i have color!! and it a WSB! i try to snake a pic of it under water almost positive i wasnt gonna land it, but FINALLY it comes up and its big!!! i get it with the gaff first try, put the game clip in and relax! barely had him in the corner! thnx owner haha another kayaker was close and i traded him the rest of my bait for a couple pics! with a celebratory cigar and all!!!! the ride back when we landed a wave turned me sideways and the damn fish broke my fish finder off!! came in at 54" and 53lbs. on the digi!! off the water by 9:15, i gotta say, today was a good day.. |

heehee...
X2.
Wow. Dude is going all Ken Burns and self documenting while fighting the thing. Then he sets up the on-water trading post - the mobile bait barge to have some passer-by provide the money shots. You may be on to something. I can take out my camera, maybe my camcorder and some lights and I'll never have to make bait again. I can be like that hot chick that comes over to your table while you're on a dinner date and offer to get a shot of you and your date to memorialize the evening - but instead handing me greenbacks, you hand me greenMACKS... Hmmm... 4 baits gets you a shot on whatever camera you have in the dry bag. 8 baits gets you a shot on MY camera (its what I do) and a high-rez JPG emailed to you that night. If you got a quarter scoop, I can send you the high-rez JPG, shoot a 25 second video AND send you an 8 X 10 print with whatever weight you want photoshopped onto the digital scale. I need to think about this... you may be onto something. Nicely done. -K
