Hobie Pro Angler
Went up to Dana Point Kayak Center to try out the Outback and Revo and they had the Pro Angler in the water just sitting there. First impression was what a well laid out platform. Plenty of room for all the fishing gear you’d want to bring along. Being heavier and wider than a normal kayak it took a little longer to get it going. Not sure if they do but if the turbo fins can be put on this beast it probably would help. Once up to plane did a few turns and it handled well. The one thing I really noticed is it didn’t track as well as I’d hoped. It needed constant adjustments to keep it tracking straight. Not sure if you could put the sailing rudder on if it might help with the tracking issue. Tried the Outback, the test yak had turbo fins and the standard rudder, liked it. Easy to get up and going, tracks and turns well. Next up was the Revo with stock fins and rudder. I liked this one the best. It’s close to the same width and length as my O.K. Prowler, but with the mirage drive. The Revo got up to plane the quickest, very maneuverable and tracked the straightest. Not sure if I’m ready to make the change from paddle to peddle but it sure was nice trying out the three models. BC |

That pro angler looks sweet. i would even be interested in getting one. im not to worried about the wieght. im more worried about maneuvering it out in the water. it looks like alot of kayak to peddle around. Did you try standing up in it??

Didn't try standing up. But it was very maneuverable.
