Thoughts on Hummingbird 153?
I had no intentions of getting a fishfinder... but they had a Hummingbird 153 on sale for just under $80 bucks. With the 50% discount, my out-the-door price was just below $40.00 and it was too good to pass up. They hooked me. Those inventory managers got me. http://www.humminbird.com/Products/PiranhaMax-153/ What do you guys think? I figure at the very least it would tell me if I was fishing a desert and at least help me find bait and depth instead of blindly trolling around. |

I currently use the 160 which is similar. Its a no frills unit. Very user friendly. Shows bottom contour, bail schools, SST temps, and depth very well. No too accurate past 300ft and sensitivity is useless below level 7 in LJ waters IMHO. Very low on power useage, I can go sunrise to sunset on a homemade 10 cell rechargeable AA battery pack. For the price you got it for you cant go wrong especially if you are upgrading from no unit at all.
With that said, I cant wait to upgrade to a FF/GPS combo...
