What kind of fish is that? Is it good to eat?
Long night of mostly unsuccessful hoopin led me to the right spot. As much as I'd like to say I had some great idea or secret weapon, this one was just dumb luck. I was escaping the crowds and knothead, catching my breath when the flyline started singing. Only thing I did right was hide the rod from a passing sea lion. One greenie, one bite, one $1500 fish.

thanks OEX and sponsors
Thanks OEX and all sponsors for putting on such a fun tournament today! I wasn't sure if I would be able to participate but I'm glad I did. I had a nice time on the water even though the fishing was pretty quiet. The fish were definitely there (thanks to OEX for getting my fishfinder installed at the last minute for me yesterday) but the fish were not interested in anything I was serving. I should have drug in the 2 sea lions that went after my mackeral at the same time from both sides!!! I could have weighed them in!
It was fun to hear my name called for the Rapala digital scale on the radio. Thank you! Everything went very smoothly, LOVED having the weigh-in on the beach as it took a lot of the pressure off and allowed time to enjoy being on the water. The food was great too! I enjoyed meeting those of you in person who I have only seen on this board and it was nice to see some familiar faces too. Congrats to all who won; you deserved it! Maggie |

Congrats to Brad. Time on the water pays off. The rest of us have some work to do. One yt for Brad and no yt, no halibut, and no wsb for the rest of us combined .
Big thanks to Brent, OEX, and sponsors. The tourny was well run, had great giveaways, and was a class setup all the way. I can't wait until next years edition.

Thank you for the great prizes. I cleaned up at the raffle with a dry bag, a much needed bait tank and a trip on the Islander! I also caught a WSB today, but it was only 20"
Congrats to all the winners. |

Congrats to all the winners. I thought with the amount of fish being caught, it was going to be WFO. Fishing all over the pacific was slow yesterday.
When fising is slow, only the best of the best seem to catch. |

Congrats Brad and all that scored!!!
Gee, that was surprise... WCW06, Moyer 06, WCW07 Opener, #1 in WCW07 at the moment, now the BWE07 crown... You're just killing it... And killing all of us along the way. Fishing was slow. My first and only bite was at 11:25 AM in front of the Pier, pretty much the same exact place where I caught the "drama" halibut in BWE06. It was heavy, felt good for a moment until it started pulling too hard, too weak for another species I'd welcome on board... Ended up being 4-5 ft leopard shark. Thanks to OEX, BWE and all the sponsors on another successful tournament. Great food, big thanks to the whole Torgeson family. Raffle prizes were were very cool, lots of good stuf - on the water and in the park. Good meeting few new folks, always good to see the "old gang"!

Thanks OEX and all the sponsors for a great day on the water and the beach. Fishing was was tough all around, but it was a beautiful day on the water, and I could not imagine a better way to spend a morning catching or not.
Congrats Brad, a well deserved win. Pulling out an 18 lb when the closest anyone else can come is a whitefish is testament to the talent you bring to our sport. I look forward to next years competition in June with more participants and hopefully more productive fishing. |

I took a couple of pictures of the sunrise during the tournament and posted one below. The second picture I took of Jim Lambert right after he found out he won 3rd place! Nice winnings!

Thanks to all who helped put on the tourney. Great time, even if I put back the 3 lb mack that fell for the fishtrap. At the time I thought it would be a waste to take up space in my bait tank, o well the x-factor mini made up for that. Thanks Andy. This was my second BWE tourney and each time I am impressed with those that share the sport.
Even on days when most of us felt like . |

And to think I was going to skip out of there right after the raffle . I'm glad I went up to see where my little feeshy stood in the rankings. Couldn't believe it when they said I took 3rd place . SWEET!
Thanks to all involved for organizing this great tournament . Was cool meeting many of you and putting names to faces. Great raffles, good food, and my 1st time placing as an individual in a tourney. Good times, good times................ |

Brad, you are the #1 kayak fisherman in so cal, I'm convinced now!. I kinda had a feeling there was a fish or two in that area. I had two nice med.geenbacks from the pier, one a seal ate, the second a barracuda cut in half and the thrid one(yours) was eaten by your yellowtail!!!! Should you not change your handle to " MadMoney" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol
