What gaff do you guys like using?

I lost my gaff to a fish (stupid mistake) so now looking for suggestions on the replacement. Maybe something with a better grip material lol

Make your own with a 1/0 Mustad hook and a broom handle or some spare fiberglass tubing.

If you are into making your own, search this site for examples. People use everything from bamboo to hockey sticks to golf clubs for the handles, and but the hooks Pike referenced. I had my brother make hooks from old hay-rake tines, then put them on bamboo handles. There's also at least one member making really nice gaffs for sale.

I made my gaff with a broken graphite fishing rod...

And rod building epoxy glue....put the hook in just like your gluing a reel seat...then rap some thread and flex coat it...i love its strong lite and has a nice grip.
Squid co has blank fiberglass rods on sale you can use for $15 A BLANK BUY EVERYTHING YOU NEED THERE

Thanks for the suggestion guys. I am not sure I want to make it myself since ordering the parts online can add up plus the time it takes to put it all together might not be too much of a difference....

Flex sounds good to absorb some of the shakes. My old one was an aluminum.

Check out turners they have decent bamboo gaffs, I've rewrapped mine to give it a custom feel. I like the 4ft for reach.
