what to put on my new Accurate

I was at the Day at the Dock yesterday and won the raffle for a new Accurate Boss 870x.
(and a 3/4 day trip - but that doesn't count.)

Wanted to get some filling suggestions.
Finally found the page hiding the specs on their site:
http://www.accuratefishing.com/produ...ss/b870x.2.php

I asked the Accurate guy and he suggested filling with spectra and top with lead of choice for that days fishing.
Never done that before, but never has such a nice reel.

What would you do?

Now if I only had to guts to go out and use in LJ.
Got to practice some more.

I might think of going with about 65# spectra and top it with 20# - 25# Floro.

sell it and buy a newel and a Super Seeker.

Maybe if your going to toss Iron, id spool it full of 30lb mono.

for bait, Id guess 60lb spectra with 8 feet if 40lb mono. adjust topshot for differant conditions ie: kelp or deep water

This is a great bait reel and nothing more. The twin drags are a smooth as they come. 65# braid and length and size of top shot to go along with application. I have used an 870 for about 7 years, 2 rebuilds were as much as buying a new one.....or 3 Sealines.

The nice thing about Accurate reels is that they will free spool and most any drag setting, so if you want, you can fish heaver pound line test, and the drags will handle it well (to a point). Accurate suggests using 30# for the 270, but you can easily fish 50# with it. I'd suggest using a loop to loop conncetion so that you have some versatility with the reel and a picky bite, and can easily and quickly change out top shots. But be sure to have your drag set to the line being used.
