dimming a FF screen?
thinking i might have to get some kind of clear, dark container or a tinted screen to put over it.

It should have 10 levels of adjustment. Hit the power button and a little screen should pop up with: backlight, power off, etc ... Scroll down to backlight and adjust.

also in the menu you can find the night vision: black back ground instead of white or go with the blue back ground.

I have the same fish finder. You can adjust the brightness of the screen by pushing the power button. Each time you push it the screen will dim.
