I've also had great experiences with all of my Shimano reels that I've taken in for servicing at their service center in Irvine (or is that Lake Forest? No matter...). My first experience was when I brought in an old Corsair that I had bought at a fishing swap meet. Right after I bought it, another guy comes up to me and says, "You do know that those are defective, right? If you take them to Shimano, they'll replace it for you." I happened to be over by Shimano's headquarters a few days later and still had the reel in the car, so on a whim I walked in with it. I showed it to the tech at the service desk and he just took the reel, walked to the back of the shop and came back with a brand new reel still in the box. I asked him how much and to my astonishment he said, "no charge." Since then I've taken in about 20 reels into them for servicing for one thing or another. While they no longer do the straight exchange, the really do stand by their products and are always helpful. Great products, great service!
