mono=single strand..braid=braided
same reason it cuts kelp make it louder going through the guides

You're hearing the sound of that braid rubbing, if mono where textured like braid you would hear that as well, but it's smooth. Fishing for the big fish in the Kelp, I'll take Braid every time. Fishing deep structure for rock fish, I'll take braid. Fishing out in the open ocean I'll use the Mono. I actually like the sound braid makes going through the guides.

Once you hook up a 50lb white Seabass and hear the sound of your braided line go ZIP ZIP ZIP ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZIP.... and feel the kelp go POP POP POP and again ZIP ZIP ZIP ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZIP
you will learn to love that sound. |
