Local Knowledge heads to Mako-ville!

Just got an email that this Sunday’s Local Knowledge episode will be fishing the islands of Las Encantadas. For those that don’t recognize it - that’s the Island chain off Punta Bufeo (aka - Bob’s Place, Mako-ville).
Should be an interesting watch...

Sunday at 8am on Discovery Channel.

Yea, at first I thought that - but then thinking on it, every other person is afraid to drive into Mexico - then of those remaining a full 75% is all say and no do. So the remaining few willing to venture into an undeveloped location in Baja where there are no resorts or cell communication is not really that many at all...

its only a matter of time before it gets ruined like Gonzaga/Alfonsinas...the paved road will attract many. Progress is already evident with the rental house that was built and rumors of a new La Poma restaurant in the works.

I saw it today.

Did not look like too much of spot burning. Mostly people talking about Baja fishing.

No detail of how to get there, what to use, etc. is my recollection.

No harm done I would say.

I see the progress over my couple of years coming down. Restaurant Menus were all in English the last time I was there and the prices are significantly higher. Almost equal to an LA restaurant.

Ummmm, they shot this in Bahia de Los Angeles...... NOT Gonzaga!

And as stated above, not many people go to Baja these days. And Baja is hurting because of it.

Baja needs our tourism dollars..... so promoting Baja is a good thing.

since you feel like correcting people........They drove down and launched out of Gonzaga bay, they also started their fishing there. So they were probably fishing just south of Gonzaga along the rocks.

If you listen at the end of the episode when they land the golden grouper they say its been an amazing day 1. I'm assuming this will be a multipart episode since they are mother shipping all the way to BofLa and back again.

Luckily for us they were headed south.......
Also as long as the local restaurant will continue to make fresh chicken mole and fish meatball soup from the sierra we catch they can continue to take my money I don't care if it costs a little more.

I for one always eat there at the restaurant. Chicken Mole, Chile Verde, Sierra Abondegas, Trigger Ceviche, Any Breakfast & Cold Beer can't be beat. I bring down (or catch) the protein and they cook for $5.00 a head where can you get that in an LA restaurant? Not to mention it is world class home cooking. Plus a little money back in to the local community, priceless. I think beers were still $1.50, bargain. Sea ya in October

You guys. Yes they launched in Gonzaga. But ALL THE fishing was done in Bahia de los Angeles. Im not trying to correct every one, but you clearly did not watch the episode, or know Baja. Not being rude. But the crowd here seems to think they know everything. The footage, except for where they put in, is all clearly islands near bahia de los angeles. just listen to the comentary in the episode..... and look at the boat they are fishing with Julio on. Do you guys even know Julio?
