La Jolla Bait Situation

Has anyone tried to make bait in La Jolla recently?

LJ Bait

I was there yesterday and there was bait jumping all over, between the point and the Southern LJ MLPA, anywhere in 50'-110' of water . Made plenty of bait and trolled a flylined live 10" greenback south and north over 4 times, for no hits. Sometimes I had a Squidtrex trolling on the other side also. At the begining I just drifted through the zone were bait was wildly jumping with the Greenback on the drift and casting lures all around me on jumping bait. Never saw any marks of individial large fish, but bait was super abundant. Over 14 boats in the area and several trolling. Never saw anybody catch anything large. A guy (Michael) on a Stealth Kayak that launched when I did and landed just after me, had a couple good rock fish. Tight Lines!
