LJ 8/5 report!
Water: warm as hell bait: herring, regular mac , and huge spanish all hard to find with out a ff people: many boats 6 kayaks and me alone Bite: seal, bait, kelp, baby calico3", and biggest fish or the year(ME) Where: 4 miles atleast out from hotel and everywhere in between I launched at 5:30, peddles out with a cool guy that helped me find my first mac of the day, got out to the kelp by 6 and fished for bait till 10 and then headed out trolling, headed in by 2 and finished off the day fishing for hali by the peir, is hali fishing even good by scripps peir?

San Diego-Scripps Coastal State Marine Conservation Area Permitted/Prohibited Uses: Take of all living marine resources is prohibited except the recreational take of coastal pelagic species, except market squid, by hook-and-line only, and take pursuant to operation and maintenance of artificial structures inside the conservation area per any required federal, state and local permits, or as otherwise authorized by the department. Coastal pelagic species, as defined for purposes of MPA regulations, include the following: northern anchovy (Engraulis mordax), Pacific sardine (Sardinops sagax), Pacific mackerel (Scomber japonicus), jack mackerel (Trachurus symmetricus) and market squid (Loligo opalescens).

In a nutshell, the only thing that is legal to do up by the pier is make bait. We had to fight tooth and nail to even allow that concession.
