A Day of Firsts
My first spottie. The spotties were hungry today My first halibut My first time using this net (also the last...) After safely releasing the cuda, I had to cut my hook out of the net. I don't reccommend the Promar folding net. The engineers at Promar put a lot of research into designing a mesh that you will never get a hook out of. I thought about paddling up to OEX and seeing if I could return it. My first broken lure. I hooked into a big spottie. As I brought him to the surface, little bait fish started exploding out of the water right next to my yak. When I got him up I saw that he had swallowed my Rapala. Just the lip was sticking out of his gaping maw. I grabbed the lip of the lure and the fish went nuts. The lure cracks in half and the fish falls back into the water. I'm left holding the plastic lip. Right after snapping this picture, my drop-shot rod goes bendo and I pull up... My first lizard fish After losing my killer lure, the fishing dropped off. I only caught two more spotties. It was a beautiful day to be out there. Check out the snow on those mountains! The score for the day was: 10 spotties 2 barracuda 1 halibut 1 lizard fish 1 lost lure 1 ruined net |

Nice action! slug Lizard
Crank baits and nets never go well together. Promar makes a great folding net and they make a great rubber mesh net that is easy on the hooks, they just don't make a folding net with rubber mesh.

Thats sweet it took me weeks for my first hali on my yak congrats. I always thought those rapalas would be a lot stronger for the money you pay for them , the cudas always broke mine after 20 or so fish so i stoped useing them and started useing castmasters.

He measured 16 inches. Does that break any records?
I knew it was a bad idea as soon as I did it, but the fish was hooked pretty good and I knew i had to bring it on board. I guess I should of picked up a fish grip. Last edited by jhook; 02-27-2011 at 08:52 PM. |

I was pretty surprised to see that flatty come up. I really want to get into a larger model. That's a good tip on the kastmasters. I hadn't thought to use those in the salt.
