Andy at OEX in Sunset sells waterproof boxes in his store if you ever make it down that way. Give him a call.

thanks guys, im lookin to mount the gps to the top so it has to be heavy duty. going to make a setup that is removable and requires no drilling into the yak. got the plans drawn up, just need to get all the parts together. im going to post a tutorial when i get it done for others who dont want to drill into their yak. going to have a cutting board as one element of the construction to make it more versatile.

Fry's has a good selection of the pelican cases and think I saw a similar less expensive brand also.

I recently bought a Pelican Box from OEX in Sunset Beach. They wired it up for me with a plug so that it's easy to connect and disconnect to either my FF or my battery charger. Andy will set you up, and it's a fair price.

Walmart has some cheap Outdoor waterproof boxes that would hold a battery just fine. They are clear plastic though so I don't think they would be suitable for use as a mount for a FF. Clear plastic is usually a bit brittle.

If your trying to build an external battery box that will also have the fish finder mounted to the lid, so as to be portable. Your going to need a much larger box than a 1120 because it seems as though you would wand to contain the 20 feet of transducer cable most systems use. If you use a larger box it could hold the battery and all the extra cable inside. Mount the fish finder and attachment to a transducer arm to the outside of the box lid. I don't think you would want all that cable wound up and hanging loose outside the box.

I looked at that very box and came to the same conclusion. Wound up just ordering my battery and box on amazon at a good price. Going to take the advise and store the cables in the box. Should be room to throw the phone and other necessities as well. Will any charger do for the battery as long as it is for a 12v?
