La Jolla 10/13/06 AMs

No swell. Like stepping into puddle. Little NE breeze, nice. Bait thin at the Pier, took a while to scrape enough.

Then this... 8) sweeet.

Then ducks….

Then hairy guy bendo once…

Then the guy wit the GAP hat that smells fishy with some strange device on his ear bendo…

Then hairy guy bendo twice… JAWS!!!

We tried to see how they piss through the skin… We were making careful observations for a few minutes, but it was really hard to tell.

Then I went on a sleigh ride… From 30ft to 80, then around, and back to 60… then the line broke above the hook. I think it was a towtruckfish.

Waved across to the hairy guy who was on his tow ride #3.

Then this guy, who I hear has his story, brings up nice big black and sends it back as graciously.

Then the wind picked up. It got real cold, real quick. I hate when my feet are wet and it’s blowing. Pretty snotty very quick, chop & whitecaps.

Then the wind died off and started raining. :?

Then it got glassy again as quickly. Hardly to no wind. :P

Another awesome day delivered to you by THE Jewel..

Amazing how more memorable it becomes with the camera out of the dry bag. Mr. Seriola, thanks for inspiration!

Good luck to weekend crew.

Damn Adi, you are quite the photobiyatch. Giving Chris a run for his money.

Leopards kept it interesting but at least they ran from the get go, dispelling any notion of beautiful flatness. Work forced me in early, just ahead of the squall.

Sat. Early boney was the highlight. Got rained on twice, then turned into a calm pleasant fall morning. Couple of bottom hookups came undo, but none felt right. Looked out deeper but didn't see anything good on either front.

Forgot to say – on Friday, there were ton of birds working straight out west from the pier, lil pass the last can. Whole day. I would bet ya’ a ton of bonito under them. And those horisie mackerel. Kid fest!!

Fresh intel 1st hand - Jasmin made a run with our friend today on his skiff. They went to LJ kelp (yeah ), pulled a quick mid dayer. Something big hit and our friend lost all of his 100 yards of 40# spectra he put on his spool. 100 yards

Jasmin then caught a bleater but had to fight over it with seal. The dog eventually settled for a belly.

THE leftover seriola went 25#. On 25# test too.

Too far of a shot paddling from LJ Shores tho. :!:

You know you're a real sportsman when you find yourself fighting with another animal over the 3rd animal's body parts.

Right on Jasmin. I wanted to head around the corner but the threatening storms kept me closer in. Sounds like a good time for miniX.

Cool Pics. Looks like John scored on the BSB. I'd sure like a small BSB veracruz sauce right about now.

Adi,

Nice report and photos-
I haven't been getting out lately and the reports somehow help.
