what fish to keep Q

Been looking on the net for what fish are legal to catch and keep. I would like to find pics so i can print laminat and carry them with me. Any one can give me the web site??

www.dfg.ca.gov - find the publications and regulations section... they also have some identification images for commonly misidentified species.

You should pick a few species to target, read up good on them and work only on those. If you catch something you're not sure about, just let 'em go and find out about that species later. It can take time to learn all the different fish species take and size regulations (after 5 years I was still catching stuff I didn't recognize).

There is a paper sportfishing guidebook/regs that is available anywhere you get a license but being able to pull this out and ID a fish on the hook is not really feasible.

print them in color write the size min. under each species and laminate.

You can download this colored fish identifier from the DFG site here.

If you have a smart phone that can open pdf files, load it on your phone and you are good to go.

Thanks guys. I think i got everything i need to start fishing tomorrow morning. Going to launch at malibu pier area. Wish me luck guys, would be awsome to catch something nice on the first day.

This is the one i have I laminated it at kinkos and used a permanent pen to mark the fish that can be fish January and Feb with an Asterisk and the minimum size.
