Close to home...

When I read about Steve's challenge I knew I needed to help. I
went through the same ordeal a few years back and it's scary.

Family and friends are a great help, but your fishing buddies staying
in touch through out the whole ordeal provides that added touch
that helps on your toughest days. Believe me.

I started fishing bass tourneys years ago and that's where I first met
Steve. I admired his dedication and ability to pull out bass when no
one else could.

I asked Steve if I could cook at his get together and he said yes. I've been
remodeling our new home's kitchen and haven't been on the internet
much. I hope the HOW guys don't mind me helping an old friend.

I'm gonna make the best fish tacos I can make. Everything will be made
from scratch. I've got 20 pounds of Halibut so far. But with the attendance continuing to climb, I'm going to need more fish!!

If you got some extra fish fillets at home and plan on coming, pm me!! Any fish will do.

Can't wait to serve you guys! Especially our friend Steve.

A note. For those guys out there that just don't know what they can do for Steve, send him a pm--a time or two--and tell him to be strong and that he's in your thoughts and prayers. Thanks, Yanni

Steve went in the hospital on Friday for a procedure. Said he would be there a few days and was really looking forward to next Saturday.

If anyone wants to drop him an encouraging line his e mail

blueoceankayak@hotmail.com

Having gone to a bunch of tournaments together in the past, I have to say that these get togethers seem to always mean more to Steve than anyone that I know for the pure camaraderie.

Weather Underground is predicting good conditions for this Saturday's Shootout for Steven Green Kayak Fishing Friendly at Dana Pt. We'll likely take pre-registrations through Friday. Remember, you can launch at 0001 if you sign up in advance - Paypal link on the event page. Day-of die hards, we got you. You can find me at Baby Beach around 0500.

What radio channel for the "official" conversations and updates? I understand other sub-groups will have their own for the day.

66 paid entries and counting, a lot of guys paying knowing they can not attend and a couple of these paid multiple times for $100 donations. I anticipate 35-40 people fishing right now.........maybe more. $1320 raised to help out Steve with these entries and more the day of with some cool donated prizes!

I got fish at the ready!

I'm planning on bringing my firepit also, anybody know if we are ok to light a fire at baby beach?....so we don't freeze our asses off in the morning?

Tony, I had the same idea, but my firepit is on it's last leg. Not sure if it's allowed either. Seems to me if it's contained, it should be ok. I have plenty of wood should you choose to bring the pit.

The closest fire rings are at Doheny. Baby Beach has BBQs but no fire pits. Maybe just use one of the BBQs for a fire?

66 entries! This gets better and better. Like so...

Thank you Hobie Fishing for supporting the Shootout for Steven Green Kayak Fishing Friendly tournament. Hobie kicked in a brand new in-the-box Livewell for a raffle prize. The folks in the fishing department came up through the grassroots - they are genuine kayak anglers and show it by supporting the community.

The forecast is looking great. See you Saturday!
