I've done this recipe probably 30 times since Stevooo first posted it and it is always a hit for me and whoever else I serve it to. Some of the ingredients are not always available to me here in Baja but I've learned to substitute some different cheeses, different potatoes, and I have to steam my own tomatoes. I also turn it into a seafood chowder by adding lobster and shrimp. Even better the day after you make it, if it lasts that long. Windy here the next few days so I'm stuck on the beach. Got some Wahoo steaks, lobster and shrimp in the freezer so that's what I'll throw together tomorrow.

My wife and I made chowdah last night, using your recipe and it was great. Had to add a little extra butter in the beginning because the bacon disappeared from my refrigerator but that happens. Thanks!
