My second year on the kayak fishing and most memorable yet.

the first picture is of my first kayak yellowtail while camping at San Miguel down in Baja. Unbelievable experience and as rewarding as they come.

other pic is a couple weeks later at SanO, my second kayak yellowtail ever - felt like the gods were finally blessing me after so many empty trips.

Tight lines!

Not a kayak caught fish, I know I'm a dick

Epic photo as it shows pure stoke... I got my little bro on his first big yellow. Made dealing with drunk assholes and a captain who couldn't figure out the drift if his life depended on it worth it

I purposely waited till the last minute before I contributed to this post hoping that I'd have a picture to share but seeing how the wind is howling so bad on this last day of the year that it caused a giant tree branch to fall on my truck, I'd have to sadly say that my 2014 season is definitely over.

My favorite fish of 2014 is the one that I had in my head every time I slid my kayak up onto my truck.
It was that thought consuming trophy that kept me awake all of those nights before I went fishing and kept me out on the water long past becoming exhausted.
It was that fish that some how made it seem like a perfectly good idea to bob around on a piece of plastic a mile off the coast in the darkness of the middle of the night alone.
2014 is over and my favorite fish is still out there, I know it. I can feel it.
And I'll catch it next time.

Happy New Year everyone!
Mike

This last July I bought a spankin new phenix jig stick. Put a Trini 16N on it with straight braid and 1st trip out caught a 27lb YT. It was the only surface iron YT for me in '14 and a memorable fish. No photos yadda yadda. Mike

What a great year to start kayak fishing. I did manage one legal halibut. Can't wait to turn it up for 2015. Happy New Year all.

Since Jorge hasn't submitted his favorite 2014 fish, I'll submit my favorite of his fish. Warning! Unedited, untouched version:

Stinkymatt's internet is down because of some snow in Vermont. He asked me to submit his favorite fish of the year. This halibut put on a good fight. Live bait. Three-way swivel. Trap rig. Flouro. Fifty-feet of water.
