But I must say - we estimated more, we were convinced she was over 40. Huge head and tail, loooong... But not too wide.

Sure looks over 40 on the pic, and it wasn't even too much of a Josh style photography...

Just a lil'...

She weighed 38#, beating my previous pb for only 1/2 lbs.

Still...

I don't see a gaff hole. Was it a melon shot? Plus, Sitting on the rail that close to the water with no game clip or rope thu it's gills is dangerous.
Nice fish. Reminds me of a guy that only had a few minutes left in a tourney to get one to the scales.

How long was she? The base of the tail looked really wide which made it look damn heavy. Amazing how much a little difference in thickness can change the weight. A great catch none the less.

Very good point, it is dangerous. The pic wasn't straight out of the water... She was bleeding, locked in the hatch for good 15 mins before we took the pic...
