Thanks for the motivation guys!

Yes, while the HDS is great for locating structure and miniscule grass beds---it's not like I'm running over meter-marks with schools of fish below the boat. And you're right; my Kaenons don't help much trying to look 80' down. The Halibut are lucky in that regard. And Bellcon, believe me I tried. I referred to my Halibut recon missions this month as the Halibut curse. Something different went wrong each time I targeted them. One trip, my bait-pump died less than a minute after I plugged the tank with Sardines from the bait barge (six miles short of my intended destination). This was the first time I've bought bait in years. All of which were dead by the time I made it to the spot. Another trip I lost my intake tube, which has never happened before. Another trip I forgot my Mirage Drive with the Pro Angler. Which is something I haven't done in a very long time. I'm talking straight up booby-trap $h!t!!! I'm with The Kid on this one; all that work just to wind in a wet sock for thirty seconds?

I have seen this ending before and it isn't pretty... Last edited by Tandem Assassin; 05-30-2011 at 10:33 AM. |

It's no kayak, it's a bag of tricks...
Josh is a superhuman fisherman. But storytelling? Let me
tell you: He's one of the best. Here's why. The story is never ending. You think you've just read a fish report. It's no fish report. All I read is, "I fish, I surf, I fish, I surf" However, if I were a halibut, I'd high-tail it out of La Jolla, pronto. |

Dude! Your stories are great but I can't read.... I like pictures, they say a thousand words so I'll comment on what I saw. Nice freakin' yellow, sweet slug of a dubby S B, that is pretty white lipstick you got there and next time bring extra tampons, you made a mess of yourself....... Or was that you just trying out the new Hobie handlebars!!!!!! YYyyeeeeeaaaahhhhh Josh!

Nice fish. And from the pics, I'd say caught earlier in May, cause the water hasn't been that flat for a while

Just remember...
When there's large waves lined up out to see and you're on a vessel that supposedly isn't designed for surf launching in the first place---the fish could care less about the challenges before you.
Never give up!

NIce fish Josh
Josh, I was thinking someone needs to be along with you to "verify" the recent catches you posted. I have decided that I will be the philanthropist and donate my time to follow you around to stamp the authenticity of each fish. I will have a fishing pole in one hand and a camera in the other!!
