New Rudder X-factor solutions?
As in my older X-factor i did not really like how i did not have a resting spot for my feet. The Crack of Dawn rudder was controlled by a movable foot rail system. So I wanted to know if anyone had any alternate solutions. |

The only one that I'm aware of that is not controlled by foot pedals, is Hobie's. It could be adapted to your yak. Actually, I'm looking at doing the same thing shortly, as I am in the process of converting my Current Design's Altura into a pedal drive, and subsequently am looking at converting the foot controlled rudder to a hand control, since I'll be needing my feets fur pedaling. I've actually thought about making a hand rudder control, but Sometimes it's simpler to not re-invent the wheel if something is commercially available; it's a price verses time and effort thing.
If your looking for someone to do the install, if I were you, I'd talk to Andy at OEX sunset Beach. But food for thought, the only real issues I see in adapting it, is mounting location and inside the yak access, otherwise it should be good to go. On another note, having previously owned an X-Factor, (I know there about the most stable yak) why a rudder on such a slow yet maneuverable tub? I presume it's related to tail wash. |
