I was in Mazatlan last year, not much marine life left, but lots of graffiti, and rich narcos staying at the hotels, but warm water and some good surf spots up the coast.

I was there in late April early May and saw a large Roosterfish jump out after some bait in 3ft. of water. Was staying at Pueblo Bonito Mazatlan.
The island accross from PB has all kinds of fish feeding around it in the late afternoon early evening before sunset. You'll see the birds circling. |

I stayed there for 2 weeks last summer! It is an amazing resort. I couldn't stand how the beach sand was so... rocky. That's awesome though that you saw the rooster.
