Malibu MLPA Info meeting TONIGHT!
What: Introduction to the Marine Life Protection Act When: Wednesday, June 17, 2009 5:30-7:00 p.m. Where: Malibu City Council Chambers 23815 Stuart Ranch Road Malibu, CA 90265 The Marine Life Protection Act (MLPA) Initiative invites the public to attend an informational presentation designed to orient interested members of the public to the MLPA South Coast Study Region process, invite questions, and solicit input on the process. Join MLPA Initiative staff to gain a greater understanding of the MLPA, the MLPA Initiative and how you can become involved in this stakeholder-driven process. Passed into California state law in 1999, the Marine Life Protection Act (MLPA) requires all existing state marine protected areas (MPAs) be reevaluated, and a statewide system of MPAs be created to protect, among other things, marine life, habitat, and ecosystems. The MLPA is currently in the south coast study region, an area that includes state waters from Point Conception in Santa Barbara County south to the California border with Mexico. The success of the MLPA Initiative is dependent upon the active involvement of the public. Join the discussion and learn how you can become involved. For more information on the public presentation, contact: Kelly Sayce at (310) 738-2665 Free and open to the public* Last edited by Holy Mackerel; 06-17-2009 at 06:54 AM. |
