My first Yellowtail!

My first report on Big Water's Edge. This is my first ever Yellowtail from my kayak. I was long-lining a 6" MC Swim bait with a Matzuo head in about 140 ft. of water. He bit just off the bottom. I tried irons and droppper-loop frozen squid for nothing. The swim bait works again! Go figure.

It has been more than nine months since you first introduced me to kayak fishing on the bay. Thank you for that. Since then, I have spent most of my time in the ocean. I was fortunate enough to catch my first YT last summer off LJ and can still remember the thrill. The bad news is the the two little fish that I caught that day probably did not weigh as much together as your beautiful fish. Way to go Wayne.

Santa brought me some nice new iron which I hope to try out very soon. See you on the water.

Bob

Nice cherry popper, Wayne!

The best part of catching Yellowtail on swimbaits is the fact that they inhale them, as long as you tie a good knot they will make it yak-side. I bet you were a little nervous when you saw color .... "please stay on, please stay on, please stay on" .

YOU WILL REMEMBER THIS FISH FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE.
