La Jolla 8.18.18

Launched at 5:30am. Bait very hard to find....made 2 spanish macks and lost both, 1 to a hard, short bite and the other to bottom.

Gave up on bait and tied on a 100 gram sardine colored flat fall and went 2 miles out from the point and 1 mile west to look for new structure to fish. Found plenty of structure between 90-175 ft of water and everytime i dropped down, i had a hit.

Very little kelp meant i didnt lose any lures for a change.
Water temp went down a couple degrees averaging 76.
Didnt really see anyone hook up on anything special. Divers reported not seeing much.

Took 2 calicos, 4 rockfish, and 1 sheepshead home. Released all bass over 20". All fish caught on 1 flatfall

Nice haul on the flat fall! Beats dragging out frozen squid.

Ha! Ya got me. Had to go look up fish regs to make sure sheepshead regs didnt change on me. They have weird regulation on how you can filet them on a boat.

A fish STILL aint a problem.

Thanks for the report! We had trouble finding bait last Thursday. Nice job on the flatfall.
