Last day for Rockfish...
Those off-shore winds were a pain in the ass again this morning and yet... once again, it calmed down and the fish bit for about 45 minutes then they shut down once again when the west wind picked up...I managed 6 nice Reds, Chuckleheads, a Starry and one Flag...I released a bunch of little guys to grow. It was a slow day but I caught enough for some fish tacos (thanks for the recipe Yani) and a few to vacuum pack. Can't wait to get back at em' after February.

Glad to see your picture of the fillet. I filleted my sheephead and was kind of dissapointed at the size of the fillet. But your picture shows about the same as I got.
Is it better to just gut it and cook the whole fish? |

Good eats Jim. I got a half limit worth taking on Monday. The starries and flag rockfish are eluding me, but I shall find them one day!
I cook them whole. No fish waste there and the tastiest parts of the fish are often not the filets IMO. |
