Just got back from Dana point with my fishin buddy
Good day for him
Started out with a few bonito
Right outside the harbor entrance
Let them all go
Paddled a little further
Got a little short bass
His first on a kayak
Let that go
Then he gets a Mac
Oh yeah
Now it's my turn
I get it off his hook
Bout to get it on mine
Whomp whomp
It jumps back into the water
Oh well
Your turn again son
He gets another
This time I manage to get it on my hook
I finally get my first cast
My first off our new kayak
I fly line that thing out
It's swimmin strong
Down to half a spool
I reel it in a little
Then back to open spool
I feel the line take off
I close the bail
Give it a few seconds then start reeling
Let the circle hook do its thing
Rod is bent real nice
Drag is burnin
Reel is singing
I lift the rod up and reel down
Do that a few times
It takes off again
I let it run
It slows and so I reel in some more
Off it goes again
It stops I pull up and
Whomp whomp
I feel it spit the hook
I knew I shoulda brought bigger ones
I just fed that Mac to something big
I guessed it had to be a bass
Cuz we were only maybe 200 yards from the harbor entrance
But that thing felt like the yellows I've caught on sport boats
I'll never know
Anyway back to you son
He gets his rod back and gets some more short bass
They all go back safely into the water
Then another mac
My turn again
I nose hook it and send it out
This time I hook something big
Rods bent and drags spinning
But it feels weird
I keep fighting it
It still feels weird
Ends up I'm caught on another kayak
Damn
I see him tryin to free us
Then he takes off
Im still stuck to him so I just cut my line
Not much line left so my fishing is done
All you now son
We paddle around a bit and he gets a few bites
Nothing sticks though
So that was pretty much it
Great day out there today
My boy racked up a total of 10 fish
4 bonito
3 mackerel
3 short bass
Too bad school starting for him next week
Poor guy
Shit
Poor me
How am I gonna get my bait without him
Well we gonna go out again Monday morn
His last day of summer break
Maybe see some of you guys out there
I'll try my best not to hook you
