San Onofre State Beach off of Basilone Rd. Your picture is the right beach, but all paddle craft have to launch at the South end of the dirt parking area. From the last restroom and beyond. You should go there the first time or two with someone familiar with the place cause there is a shallow reef at the launch and tricks to avoid the surf.
I got that fish on a couple of frozen Squid on the dropshot on the bottom. Only bait I made that day was a handfull of Greenbacks The padded foot rod rest is a prototype I am testing for a manufacturer that I am not at liberty to divulge at this time. |

You the man
I'm always impressed by the size of fish you bring up with that skinny rod. Pretty amazing!

Not only do you have shore breakers on top of rocks, but you have outside shore breakers that will make you spit out water for the next hour!!! Then you have to paddle for miles! but sometimes it can be very easy to launch and then you comeback and everything is BIG.
