I'll be busy this weekend. Let me know if you're fishing another time.

I forgot to tell you, I caught a nasty barracuda on a sabiki rig. What an f'ing nightmare, no net, fish grips or gaff (not that I needed it). Stupid fish had all 5 sabiki hooks rapped around him. He would not stop flapping so a couple of whacks to the head from my pliers put him in place. Surprising he swam away with out issue after i unhooked him ... pretty hardy fish. Next time for sure. I have some good intel on chafee island next time ... I will send you a PM |

Why would you beat a fish over the head in your kayak and then release it?
Kind of defeats the purpose? Come prepared so that you don't foolishly waste our resources. |

I had no choice he had a hook in his eye, one inside his gill and two more along his belly. I tried untying him on the deck of my yak, but that turned into a total mess. If you have ever caught a cuda you know how much of a pain they can be. I normally don't forget things, but this was one of those days where I did. I respect your opinion, but I am sure you have had a day where you have forgotten a thing or two? What other choice did I have, release him with a sabiki rig rapped around him and have another fish get rapped into that mess? *** You did read in my original post the fish swam a without issue, right? *** Last edited by octico; 06-12-2014 at 09:00 PM. |
