Baja Yellows

I could'nt catch a fish in LJ so I went down to Baja with a few fishing buddies. Hoping to find cleaner and warmer water we headed off to SQ where it was windy and cold, proceeded to Abraojos only to find nearly the same conditions and no fish reports. Traveled down another 100 miles or so and four wheeled to a nice cove and launch. The wind had died and the water was in the 70 degree range, perfect!. Paddled out about 1.5 to 2 miles and came across a small rise on fish finder and caught a 12#er or so. Kept on trolling the rapala around and got busted with this fish.

I was thinking around 30# because of the power and thickness of this fish. Got two more 12 to 14#ers and because of the added weight I had to paddle around with I decided to go back to the launch and unload. But still thinking I could get one more fish to limit out I proceeded to troll the rapala towards shore. Out of nowhere the rod doubles over and the line screams out. Had a hard time getting the rod out of holder with this fish.I'm thinking for sure this is the I was I was wanting! This guy fought like a yellowfin tuna, he would suspend himself in the water colume where I could not pull him up, just like a standoff!. All along I'm thinking 40# its just gotta be. Well up he comes and its about the same size as fish no. 1.But what a pull, truly a Baja at its finest!

Back on shore the fish weighed 25.5# and 25.9#.

Sweeeeet!

Rough landing, too. Looks like it could be LJS.

Nice catch. Not ROOM for any more on the boat. Maybe you need a Mini-X just for the fish.

Dave, are you sure that isn't Tourmaline? If the photographer turned a little to the right you could see fifty guys sitting of longboards talking about the good Ole days.

I think D50 greenscreened in a different background to throw people off the track.

I think it's Law Street...

Nice double Dave!

Like this one. But its not important now because that day is over and todays bait will not necessarily catch tomorrows fish. Base your lure selection on present bait in water, temp, color , depth that the bait is suspended in, etc............
