Thanks. I think that is the one I'll go with. West Marine has the Platinum on sale for cheaper than the gold. I'm not sure why.

Not sure about the HDS5 because I haven't put my Fish n chip in it yet... Later this week I will but in my Elite 5 the Fish n chip was awesome for Kayaks because it showed way more contour lines close to shore...

This ^^^. I have the Fish n chip in my HDS-5 and love it. From what I know it's been discontinued and incorporated as a feature (SonarCharts) of the Platinum+ chip.
