I have an S-12 but it's a few years older than yours. The livewell lid doesn't fit very well so I never worried about the seal. I have plenty of drainage in the front holes and I now keep a low enough flow rate that the tank never fills up to the top where I'd have to worry about it draining into the seating area anymore. I'd say the water level runs at about 2" down from the top of the tank.
I may still get some spillage in rougher conditions though, and the best fix for me is to wear waterproof pants/waders. Congrats on the new yak and addicting hobby

Congratulations on your new ride!!!
I have a stealth 14. I used a foam tape window seal on all of my hatches including my bait tank. You can buy it at Home Depot. The main reason my butt doesn't get wet is because I NEVER keep the scupper plugs that are under the seat in and I cut a foam kick board in half and use it as a pad under my seat. Works excellent.
