Mission Seafoods in Oceanside. 5.99 for a 3lb box. They also have great seafood if you want to buy something exotic to feed yourself!

Pretty much all Asian supermarket has them for $6 for fresh frozen or about $3/lb for fresh unfrozen. I normally buy a box and portion it out into freezer bags so when I need it I just grab a bag and go. One $6 box is good for 3-4 trips if you cut them.

So would AR Market in Garden Grove have it? Raskal?
Team Sewer? Any place in Long Beach other than the 3 mi paddle to the barge on the breakwater?

I usually get mine at the 99 Ranch Market on Pioneer Blvd in Artesia. Don't bother buying the stuff that sits on ice, its looks fresh but its the same sh*t that sits in the box in the freezer section.

I've never used squid. Do you use the whole body squid or chop and chunks?

Rockfishing you can try pieces or whole (had days when only the whole squid woud get hit,,,,,and seen the opposite.)
For WSB, YT and Halis you are using a whole squid. I am sure there may be some exception to this but unlikely. I know everything! |

San Pedro Bait Co. sells good fresh frozen squid (and anchovies). So far it's been much better than other brands. You might find it in a local tackle shop. It's sold here in Dana Point, when they have it (sells out quickly).

Thanks for answering the total noob question.
As a rook, I'm too lazy too do the 3 mi paddle to the barge and haven't got a tank yet. Squid may be the ticket to just get out there and spend some time working on casting and knots.
I found the SP site: http://www.sanpedrobait.com/pages/frozenbait.php 1/17/2014 Shops selling their squid
