Don't Eat The Yellow Snow.
My buddy Chris aka "Lowprofile" is leaving to bluer pastures in Florida this month so we had to get one last yakak trip in before he left. Niether of us have hooked into a yellow or wsb while fishing together, but that luck was about to change. Our BWE friend Wade was happy to help and offer his experience. Picked up a box of squid each and a couple glow irons. We had a break in the storms and hit the launch at 0330 and off we went. Very cold morning, but suprisingly calm waters. Water temp was around 61-62. Fin bait was easy to find, picked up some good size dines and greenies. A few possible metering of squid but since we had fresh frozen we decided to press on. Pinned a squid on the iron and searched for We saw some good marks but no takers. I got slammed pretty hard as the sun came up, after a short but fun fight I bring this hungry fellow up. My PB calico bass! No tape but if were to guess, 20''? Released back unharmed. After a few more bass and grass rockfish we decided to head out for some tail/rock fish around midmorning. Wade hooked us up on some great honey holes!!! We ended up with a few sheepshead and reds each! Pretty stoked to have some taco meat. We saw a fellow possible YT marks but no takers. I think Wade even had his big halibut friend hit his bait but she decided not to stick around. Next time! Then around 2pm it was Game On. We had some great marks around 80-120ft. Dropped some yo yo and WHAM! Chris hooks up! Brings it to the gaff, drops down again and hooks up AGAIN! I'm laughing my ass off and can't believe our day just got better. I end up getting slammed on the iron, took a good 15 second run and came off Got my iron back to find the glow was ripped off! We tried for a bit longer then the bite shut off. Very cool experince. Fish Porn. Weighed in at 28.5 and 26lbs. Had some squid in their bellies... Love the collars! Wade was a wealth of knowledge, helped put us on some fish, and most of all- fun to fish with! Thanks for being part of a great farwell experince. Hope Chris will be sending us some Florida game fish pictures next year! Happy Fishing BWE -Zac Last edited by Zfish03; 12-27-2012 at 04:54 PM. |

oh yeah. Zac and I also couldn't figure out why, but there were 3 or 4 other yaks, pretty sure atleast 2 were dune colored, sitting pretty close to each other just outside the school of yellows. watching everything happen but didn't seem to be fishing. they eventually drifted further and further away until i lost track of them.
