Might want to add where you need the surf report for. Surfline.com is probably one of the best.

As far as conditions in general: the entire ocean was a washing machine today.... not to mention the 2-4 ft steady wind swell breaking at the launch in La Jolla

this is mainly due to the wind associated with the current storm front passing through. check this link for pretty accurate wind and surf info,,,

It might clean up a BIT by tomorrow, but I don't think so...

launching in anything over 4 ft is pretty gnar!

I'll be in San Diego bay tomorrow - now to decide on Tidelands or Shelter Island...

I stopped by the LJ launch today. I wanted to see how 2-4 ft at the Scripps buoy looked at the actual launch.
It was pretty bad. Waves were breaking twice, 30 yds out and then close to beach like usual. I hung out talking to another BWE member for about 45 minutes. The waves were constant without breaks in the action.
In my opinion it would be a VERY wet launch even if you didn't roll and I definitely wouldn't want to come back in with it the way it was today.
Outside the surf didn't look much better.
