If you used Goop, then you can peel it off and reuse the transducer.

I have pried them off and sand the epoxy off them and they still work fine. My new one I ground off all the plastic off the top so it would fit in the scrubber hole on my prowler(made for a throu hull mount) Lot of material came off and it works perfect. I think you would really have to work hard to screw one up.
