v1 drive help

I bought a used 08 outback about a year ago. why do the chain cable's keep breaking on me. Im about to buy 3rd chain as its hanging on by a thread. this chain is only 2 month's old. is it defective? or am I doing somthing wrong. the drive gets washed off, lubed and checked after every use.

Next, squeeze your chain cables in the same manner. The front should have a little give (again, about 1/8 inch), and the rear, slightly more (3/16 inch). These measurements are more critical if you have the stainless sprocket -- too loose and you can skip a cog on the sprocket; less critical with plastic sprockets.
Are you over tightening?

Which cable is breaking?
