Hey, Tyler, who's the lucky guy?
We think we know what he looks like since he was being towed past us at a few knots as we were trolling out in front of the big condo. He said it was the fish's 8th or 9th run. Thought for sure the way his pole was bent over and how strong the fish was pulling it had to be a yellow. That must be one helluva white!!! Can't wait to see the picture of it. May the winner please take a bow and address the admiring audience.

Nice to meet you Aaron and Julie. The lucky guy was "kind of new at this" by his own words. I didn't get his name, and I don't really want to post a pic of someone who I don't know at all on the internet. He was on a blue/white prowler. The WSB was absolutely lit up when I saw it. Pretty purple. My buddy saw the guy on the paddle in and said it was over 48". It didn't have much of a belly on it. 35-45# is my best guess. My pics didn't come out too great since the guy seemed a little uncomfortable lifting/shifting weight around on the kayak and never lifted the whole fish up for the pic.
Hopefully he can fill us in on the details and the story. |

It was nice meeting you, too, Tyler. Good luck tomorrow, if you're still going.
Thanks for filling us in on some the details. Nothing like a white like that to hook another newbie on kayak fishing. Good for him .

 Funke here, beginners luck I guess, but super stoked on my 1st WSB! Aaron and Julie, thanks for staying calm. Tyler, thanks for the on-the-fly advise and pics. Jeff, thanks for helping me even the score. Got towed around nicely this morning, several runs, I was being a bit careful. 51" @ 38 lbs. Learned a lot today, dodged a couple lines, got wet, but still glowing this evening, an experience I'll always remember. Good luck!

I'd "get wet" if I caught one like that too! Congrats Mark |

The good news...I caught a white sea bass.
The bad news...it was about 18" long. Killed some bass though.

Congrats again on a very nice seabass! You pulled it off despite all the troubles, right on! Every other big fish will be easier.
Friendly advice, something I learned – always take other people’s offer to snap a picture of your trophy catch. Nothing beats picture taken on the water. More of them you have taken, better the chance you’ll get really nice one. Driveway shot always stays a cheesy driveway shot. I was the guy on the Bayliner you ran into on your way back in who offered to take a pic.

Funke, congratulations on getting a very nice fish. You looked comfortable on your sleigh ride.
Hey, Adi, we said hi when we went by, but we weren't sure that was you. Should have known by the hats.
