National Fishing Restrictions Coming From DC

Did anyone else see the Fox News mention yesterday of the national fishing regulations currently being drawn-up by the Obama Administration? I spoke to a Shamanio rep at the Long Beach MLPA meeting and he siad the industry has not been able to provide impute in the fishing regualtion process that was underway in DC. This rep told me that the closures and new regulations proposed by the Feds go way beyond the scope of the MLPA and that no public impute has been part of the DC process.

This site was a great director of angler involvement in the MLPA process along with Bloodydecks and the bust tours to the LAX and Long Beach meetings. We may need to rally the troops again to fight Washington's new regulations.

If anyone has access to a draft of these new federal regualtions it would be great to share and potentially forge a campaign to try to protect our rights. Windy days lend time to contemplate our uncertain future.

Fishermen Unite

Great Links Gents, Thank You. As if the current administration does not have enough important issues to address at this time. The UT listed SD County's adjusted unemployement rate at 11% this morning. 2,700 pages of HC legislation circulating on the Hill and they are coming up with a whole new slate of fishing regualtions. Maybe, DFG hiring will help bring down the unemployment rate in California? Oh wait, Cali has no $ to hire more DFG agents. Are enviro vilegants going to enforce the new Federal regualtions?

At least the Interim Framework lays out a five year plan of "Planning and Implimentation". It looks like we may have more meetings to attend in the near future. I am still holding out a ray of hope for legal proceeding to force out Obama's passport with that Pakistani stamp which could help us get off the Socialist Road we are currently careening down on such a slippery slope. Now, that our fearless leader pissed-off the Supremes with his State of Union public chastising maybe they will be more open to considering hearing one of the many suits that have been brought to their steps. Maybe, one of the fishing organizations should consider funding a suit themselves as a means of circumventing this whole process that looks to be leaning very much against us from its inception.

The MLPA with the private foundation funding driving the wagon against us was bad enough but our own tax $ being spent at a time like this to continue to curtail our rights really boils my blood.

Found this on another forum. I filled out the message and sent it and immediately received an automated response from Congressman Bilbray.

Tell the White House to Safeguard Recreational Fishing
Help Ensure That the New National Policy for the Ocean, Coasts and Great Lakes
Includes and Promotes Recreational Fishing

Your input is needed to ensure that this new national policy does not unnecessarily restrict people from enjoying saltwater and freshwater recreational fishing

Within the next 30 - 60 days, the Obama Administration is planning to issue a final report, and possibly other management guidance, intended to govern the management of the nation's oceans, coastal areas and Great Lakes. The plan originated in June 2009, when President Obama created the Interagency Ocean Policy Task Force. The Task Force, led by the Chair of the Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ), was charged with developing a national policy for conserving and managing the United States ocean territory and the Great Lakes. The policy will govern ocean and Great Lakes resource management and coordinate efforts among the many federal, state and local agencies that oversee a significant portion of our nation's waters.

The White House is in the final stages of developing the final report, which must balance sustainable uses with ocean and Great Lakes conservation. It is important that the administration recognizes and promotes the economic and conservation contributions of outdoor recreation, including recreational fishing and boating. Without such recognition, decisions made under this national oceans and Great Lakes policy could be used to unnecessarily close saltwater and freshwater recreational fishing areas.

Anglers and boaters are the original stewards of our environment. If you take us off the water, this country will lose a vital element in the conservation of our fisheries resources. Outdoor recreation is a part of our way of life and we need to ensure that it remains an option for all Americas.

Click http://www.capwiz.com/keepamericafis...ertid=14653146 or visit www.keepamericafishing.org to send a letter to President Obama and other key policy makers urging the Task Force to include recreational fishing and boating in the national policy. When you send this letter to President Obama, it will automatically be sent to your Members of Congress.

Make sure your voice is heard so that anglers' and boaters' conservation, economic and social contributions are recognized as a key component of the policy.

If you have listened to the comments from those supporting a complete closure of Laguna,
You know the answer is YES

They are chomping at the bit to get the opportunity to police "their" waters off "their" coastline.

And I am sure there are many more enviro vigilantes eager to join them.
Could get real messy out there.

Instead of "whale wars" we may see kayak wars, glorified enviros fighting to drive law biding anglers off the waters of California.

We are living in strange times indeed.
Sad that something I love so much,
that makes me a better father, husband and all around citizen...
Causes such disdain and disgust from the other side.

When and why did we become the bad guys?
just where the hell do these people think sushi and fillet-o-fish come from?

New campaign - "Save the Granola"

Every bite of granola the birkenstockers eat takes it away from being used to stock wildlife feed stations

Hey Josh,

Maybe you did not get the word. The staff at the Cardiff State Park is being furlowed to save funding for a bunch of studies being done to validate the studies that were done a while back. No bid contracts were awarded to consultants who have established close ties to certain powerful state legislators. Any leftover money will go into the pension fund for all our hard working legislators.

I heard that there will be a lottery to determine who gets to camp on the two weekends a month that they plan to have the campgrounds open. Lottery preference will go to those in the correct political party based on the size of your donations. The correct political party is to be determined based on the results of the next round of elections. Smart campers hedging their bets by having spouses each register for different parties and are sending money to both.

This, of course, will not guaranty that you will actually be selected as one of the lucky citizens who get to camp at the State Park. It will just get you to the head of the line for consideration. Those with letters of recommendations from their state Senator or Assemblyperson will almost be assured of getting a camp site. You can see the current recommended donation amounts for these letters by visiting your legislator's web site.

If you are lucky enough to be selected, you will be able to pick your preferred camping space. Selections must be made in person and small service charge will be added to your registration fee. Don't forget to feed the parking meter when you visit the park. Be careful if you go on a Thursday. If you park in the wrong place on every other Thursday, you will receive a ticket.

Don't you just love the way our Government works.

Bob
