Fishing Newport Harbor on Friday, 10/30
I am not sure if the harbor was strongly affected and the fish might have lockjaw, but I thought it is best to ask. Thanks in advance for any information. Kevin |

Newport back bay
Looked to meet with Kevin (Ohana) but found out he had to tend to business. Took his advise and threw some crank baits around the boats and caught two nice size spotted bay bass. Released them all for everyone to catch. I would post pictures , but I have to figure out how.

Looks like you figured out how to post the pics... nice!
Any suggestions on crank baits to use? I've always fished plastics or cut or live bait. |

This is what was working!
I tried the little minnow type but not enough weight and action, I caught Three on this right out infront of the boats. I used a tug of the rod, reel in the line and tug on the rod when I caught these, I never got a bite just reeling in the lure. This one is called Bill Dance Fat Free Guppy "Bomber" I think it performs in the 3 to 7 foot range. Sorry about the fishing language, new to this and getting addicted!

No worries on the language. I'm learning more than ever about fishing in the 2 months I've been a member of this site (thanks to you guys) than I have in the last 10 years of fishing.
Thanks for the tip!! Now on my list: 1 green and white smiley faced lure and 1 rainbow sherbet bomber |
