LJ then SD Bay 10/24

Shiloh and I woke up and fished La Jolla. Launched around 7:30 since there was a pretty good ocean front when we woke up, so we took our time and had breakfast. Stayed overcast most of the morning. Fished north of the pier the entire time. Bait was pretty easy to make and the waters were generally flat. I caught 2 leopard sharks always exciting for a second until you realize what you have. Shiloh caught a couple small bass and basically that was that, caught more bait before we left for hooping at San Diego Bay in the evening.

Picture of one of the leapord sharks, looks more like a sea snake.... not a great pic.

After going home and cleaning up we re-set up for lobster hooping. We hooped from 7:45 - 12:30. Was not productive, really have not figured this hooping thing out and have starting to question whether it is worth being tired all the next day. We got plenty of little stingrays and then finally 1 legal lobster also the only lobster we got all evening. It was like a lake on the water last night.

Is it worth it or not? I don't know but we did have one hell of a lunch after waking up at noon today

I also hooped last night from about 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm. I didn't get a single bug. All I got was stingrays!

Geez, those pics make my mouth water! How did you cook the bug? It looks just like Puerto Nuevo.

My favorite way to cook spiny lobster is to cut them in half clean them with very cold water under the sink. Lemon, Garlic, Butter and Pepper the underside (where the meat is). Cook on the weber.

Fishing and bugging the swing shift takes some serious desire. One bug sure makes a difference in how I feel about it. weather and that plate shot may have convinced me to go tonight.

Nice shots. That was an iron-man and iron-woman day! Karma owes you both some good bugs for representing us at Long Beach.

It sounds like you are starting to figure it out. Move around and try some different areas. You'll figure it out soon enough. Good job on the keeper
