How is that better than a typical gaff hook?

It won't tip over as easily when you lean it against a wall.

I dont like to bash new ideas or anything But...

Honestly how is this any better? I know Matzuo had a similar fish hook called the Sickle bend that did prove to help with keeping fish on however as a gaff I do not see an advantage over a properly bent round style gaff hook.

Now about that Proper bend on a gaff hook... Good hooks are made by companies like Mustad. These hooks have a equal bend to them and have a gap large enough to keep a fish from easily flipping off if they start to flip around.

Gaffs with the wrong hook include the Promar hooks which are shaped all funky, and while they may work it isnt near as easy to keep a fish on them.

Now I can hear all the guys that say "Well ive never had a Problem with My Promar..". You want a true test of your Promar gaff hook try it on a Dorado and lift it into the bow of a sportboat, Youll see what I mean really quickly. And while Dorado and a sportboat may not be what you are doing eventually your going to have a Halibut or something freak out and you will see what I mean.

What I recommend is the Blue Room gaffs we sell or one of the Calcutta Gaffs that Rik at OEX KM makes and sells. These are made with the "Right" hook.

No mater what hook you have though Technique is what it all comes down to. Gaffs are sharp guys you dont have to swing really hard to get them to stick. Simple place the gaff over top of the fish with the hook pointing down. Align yourself with a good headshot and just pull it into the fish. Finesse will get you better results. I was taught to gaff fish with the same finesse as you would use as playing pool. Obviously gaffing your own fish is different as you only have one hand however you still dont need to freak out and drive it in as hard as you can, your just going to miss.

this is why mine is better

i talked to some local fisher man and asked them in a year how many gaffs do u buy one said if i dont lose it 2 a year , i then asked why 2 every year they said cuz after using it so many times it gets all rusted and corroded with nastyness and i dont want to gaff fish with it if im going to eat it ,

thats a standard metal hook

now mine are made from high strenght ''titanium'' they wont ever rust the or corrode and they float so you dont have to worry about losing them

Let's see a real pic, not a computer graphic.

I love my Titanium dive knife, sharp as hell, no rust, I almost NEVER rinse it!

How about donating one of those as a raffle prize for the Steve Moyer Memorial Tournament? It's for a very good cause and we would all get to see it first hand.
