Make that two firsts
Congratulations Echo.
I also got my first YT today and I would like to second the thanks to everyone for the good council. Proof that the time on the water rule is valid. I don't have any talent or all the right gadgets, but I have put in some serious hours out there. While I was out there one of the cattle boats got into some fish, Bonita and a few yellows, and it seemed like all hell broke loose. The people on the boat yelling over crossed lines and gaffs, the captain telling off some other PBers that were running over the chum line, the birds, seals, sea lions, eight more power boats and several kayaks all converging on the scene..... The kayak is where its at for me. Also, thanks to the dudes who gave me a sabiki rig on the beach when my last one turned out to be FUBAR. Hopefully I can return the favor soon. |

Hey TCS, no need to repay for the sabiki, we cashed out on our karma points today!
Damn today was an epic bite. We stayed out away from the crowd and still found fish! we saw all the commotion and boats and watched it all go down over bent rods! |

I caught my first YT of yak today also and it was my 2nd trip to LJ. One with spanish mac and the other one with lime-green tedy 45. The sizes weren't big ones but it surely was fun. We were catching straight out from the tower about 70 feet of water. If you have time, you should definately go out NOW! Go Yakers!

I have been out fonted
It wasnt Josh fishing for Nessy, it was Sammons, and he did hook up. Sammons got bit on a lightweight spinning rig while drop shotting a whole haggis. It was an epic battle that lasted over 18 hours. While Sammons had a support boat standing by, he never called for help. An exhausted Sammons finally leadered and released Nessy after a few photos to the chagrin of local authorities. Look for it on the next "Game On" video!
Sorry to get off topic. |

Fish at your own risk.
As we all know there are no lifeguards off the point and the wind has been pretty stiff in the afternoons. Fish at your own risk and bring all the safety gear.
I saw a few giant Chupacabra, one packin' a 9mm and threatining guys trying to launch. Not to mention I took a photo of a sea lion with a surface iron hanging out of his mouth. We've all seen a Sea Lion with a surface iron in it's mouth, no big deal. But, this Sea Lion had also been attacked by a Great White Shark. Fresh wounds on it's back wrapping around it's stomach. As the PHD in the movie Jaws said "this was no boating accident" . I'll admit, I felt sorry for this big mature furbag. It is kinda funny when you think about it, though. Not only are you too dumb to keep from slamming a blue and white Tady 45 with a large shiny treble hook, but you look like a surface iron to the wrong kind too. Oh Yeah, No Yellowtail in La Jolla!
