LJ 2/21 PM, 2/22 AM

Still pissed at myself for not getting up Tuesday morning, I went out hooping only because I had promised to bring the bait. On a loaner yak so I had a bit of a time keeping my nets aboard as I launched. Got nice and wet for the trouble. Once out all was good though. Met up with A&J, the holy mac, and marc and double em. Uhoh. Apparently the double em effect is limited to fish, because the bugs still crawled, though for a very short window. Good to see I still have my sharky touch: pulled in a 2ft horned shark (I think) and a 5ft leopard. I think LJ has been getting too much bug pressure, lots of shorts and almosts.

Got up this morning and got down just a bit later than I wanted. Watched Pat make a remarkably wet launch through fairly small surf. We headed way out where some birds were moving around. The short of it...it never happened. Looked promising for a while and a fish or two may have been spotted but no real action. Sardines everywhere.

I chased birds around way outside but it was all big Mackerel, porpoise and a pack of sea lions under the birds. Thought I may have seen a couple of boils from the right kind but that may have been wishful seeing. On a good note, the Calicos went off inside under the birds. Big fish went just over 5 lbs and 22". It was steady from 09:30 - 12:00. Nice down hill current. Water 58.
