Look at the times listed. 5-8pm for us working stiffs. This is our chance to let them know what we think. They are even close by.
WE CANNOT AFFORD TO MISS THESE.

Finally, something less than a two hour drive. If you are in the county, there is absolutely no reason you shouldn't be able to make at least one of the meetings. Please plan on being there, or Corey will crap in your bait tank while you're getting your car!

Yes, if you notice, there are 7 meetings that are almost consecutive in an 11 day span. This may be just coincidence, but it will be more difficult to get the regulars to all the meetings. Everyone within 1hr, at the very least, must attend their areas meeting. This is extremely important.

Sign-up list
Perhaps a sign-up list would help coordinate coverage. I'm looking at 6/30.
D-out.

What do the road show meetings try to accomplish? Public showcase and input?

I will definitely be at the Cbad venue, and hope to have the Fishcatcher and his friends, his friends' older sisters, and anybody else that will be affected by this.
If I'm not mistaken, this is essentially a chance to enlighten the public, which we should all think about. "They will have sheets you can fill out to share your comments about the proposals as a whole or just certain areas where MPAs are proposed. These comments will be used as input to the people making the decisions on the MLPA process. It will be important that you attend and make constructive, polite, and specific comments on the areas you see on the proposals. I think we all agree by now that protected areas will be created, this is a good opportunity where you can ask questions, get information, and provide feedback on what is important to you as a user of the marine resource. Please go to these workshops recognizing they want to hear from you, they want to hear what areas that are important for your activities (extractive or not)." I have some thoughts on this, and would like to discuss it with some of you. Please feel free to PM me if you have any questions as to what my thoughts are...

Count me in for Carlsbad and probably PB. This will be the first meeting that I have attended. Maybe some of the veterans could post some notes regarding what rookies like me should be prepared to do and say.
Personally, I think too little attention has been paid to the probable huge negative economic effect on businesses servicing the fishing community as well as the enormous cost of implementing the MLPAs. If I were to be called on to make a comment at one of these meetings, I would focus on those issues. Bob |

I should be able to make most except June 29th. May need to have people fill out cards for me since getting to all of them before 5:30 will be difficult.
