4/11 Newport......and so it grows

Great fishing with you all!

Big Bass Weigh-in this morning drew 34 entries for a $170 pot. 2 in the junior division, Matt turned Gabe's $5 into $10 with a sand bass. Travis won the rest of the cash ($160)with a 2.3 sand bass. (2.4 covered with sand) Couple 2 pound sandies (Wbrewski and Sea Eagle) tied for 2nd and a spottie that went 1 15 Heard of some heartbreaking calicos to the boiler rocks and spotties to buoys. I managed a couple sand bass, spottie and a halibut that thought it was way bigger than 25 inches All my fish came on the Tin Roller blade. Thanks for the great turn out, especially the few that came all the way from SD. Next one is May 2nd in Huntington Harbor. See ya there!

Thanks for organizing these events Andy we had a great time and are looking forward to next months event! I was surprised to see water temps still at 58 deg. Just a couple more degrees should really get the fish going (not to mention help me get going). Congratulations Matt from myself and my son David, we were really glad to meet you and your father and look forward to meeting up with you again soon if not next month!

Great time headed outside and down south to look for some calicos. Semi rough on the outside with the big fish being a Sandie. When one of the building swells started to break outside of where I was fishing decided to retreat to the harbor. Rode the incoming tide up th channel into the harbor with a steady pick on sandies and calicos nothing over the 1 1/2 sandie so let them all go. Finnished the day fishing the morings for more sandies and a few spotties. Lost a real nice spottie to the moring anchor to end my morning. All my fish came on Uni Buttered plastics, most on the Reebs Razorback and a few on the Flukes not a bite all day on the blade.

SEE YOU ALL IN HH

Andy, it sure was fun. Matt had a blast. Here are some pics:
The paddle to the fishing spot

Matt and I after fishing

Matt waiting to see what his bass weighs

Finally Matt's winnings

We didn't spend any of his prize money, even though he did offer to buy me starbucks. I'm gald he enjoys kayak fishing and then helps me out with the clean-up afterwards.

Greta pics and it looks like all had a fun time. The little guy and his money is a classic shot. Nice job Andy. I may have to make the drive up there for the next one.

Very Cool Uncle Gabe, hopefully there will be a bigger junior division pot next month.

Congrats Matt, luckily David was looking for halibut
